Through Christ, God has acted so powerfully in the past for his church, and has too much in mind for his church in the future, to leave his church as it is in the present. That is what Paul means when says to Christians in Ephesians 4:1 – “I urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received”. The call of the gospel is for the church to live out more and more what it means to be God’s new humanity in Christ.
